Buyer’s Guide: Car Seats and Accessories

Here is a list of car seats and accessories I have purchased, or received as a gift or inherited from family/friends, that I can personally recommend.

Infant Car Seat

Graco Snugride Click Connect Infant Car Seat – Affordable, lightweight option with good safety ratings and pretty easy to find adapters for. Downside is that it’s hard to use without the base, so you may need to purchase an extra one for a caregiver to keep in their car.  If I had to do it again, I might splurge on the UppaBaby Mesa to go with the Cruz stroller system without an adapter. But they really are not in the infant seats for very long (my baby outgrew hers at 6 months), so it’s hard to justify that cost.

Convertible Car Seat

Evenflo Tribute – Affordable, lightweight, compact convertible car seat that’s great for grandma’s car, and also for traveling. Received strong crash test ratings from CR. Similar to the Cosco Scenera.

Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat – Love the click tight technology! Makes getting this seat in and out a breeze (except that it’s quite heavy). Great overall ratings from Consumer Reports.

Car Seat Accessories

Travel Bag for Car Seats – I love this one because you can wear it as a backpack.

Baby Seatback Mirror – There are tons of these out there, and they are all pretty similar. I like this one because of the 360 adjustability.
