Buyer’s Guide: Baby Feeding Essentials

Here is a list of baby feeding essentials that I have purchased, or received as a gift or inherited from family/friends, that I can personally recommend.

High Chair and Travel Chair/Booster

Baby Bjorn high chair – So chic, compact, and easy to clean. Beautifully designed. If you want a chair that grows with your baby/toddler into childhood, I would look at the Stokke Tripp Trapp. However, for a high chair, this is hands-down my favorite option.

Chicco Pocket Snack – Picked this up on a whim at Target while on a road trip, and wow, what a great impulse buy. We used it everywhere from grandma’s house to In-N-Out burger. The tray is a little annoying to take on and off, but otherwise no complaints. I prefer this to the classic Bumbo seat, which is great as a floor seat, but has a terrible tray attachment that makes it impossible to use during meal time. Bumbo does make a meal-time multi seat, but for the price, I think the Pocket Snack is a better deal, and it’s way more compact.

Burp Cloths and Bibs

Aden + Anais burpy bibs – Simply the best. I have inherited tons of these, and they wash extremely well. The soft rayon ones tend to snag a little, I’ve noticed, but both the standard muslin and the rayon ones are well made overall and worth trying.

Oxo Tot Waterproof Silicone Roll Up Bib – Super easy to clean and secure.

Ju-ju-be Be Neat Reversible Bib – We only have one of these because of the price, but find that we use it all the time, especially for travel. Love the magnet clasp.

Dinnerware and Utensils

Lollaland Lollacup Sippy Cup – This is the ONLY sippy cup my toddler will use (we tried 4 others). Love the silicone straw. It is easy for her to sip on. It is NOT leakproof and the handles are somewhat useless, but still sooo worth getting, especially if your kiddo is not keen on sippy cups. Also, you can purchase replacement straw components separately.

Munchkin spoons – Cheap, well sized, and easy to travel with.

Suction baby bowls – Got these as a gift and use them every day. Love that they have lids, and they come in convenient sizes.

epz Mini Mat – We like the mini size because it fits on the smallish Bjorn high chair tray. The larger ones also are harder to wash under the sink without spraying water all over yourself.

Bottles

Dr. Brown’s glass bottles – It’s hard to find the glass ones online, but those are the ones I strongly prefer. Way easier to keep clean than plastic. I recommend using a few drops of Medela breastmilk removal soap in a plastic tub of hot water, soaking all pieces, and cleaning with a bottle brush.

Food Maker

Magic Bullet Baby Bullet Food System – Got this as a gift and was surprised how much I ended up using it. Way more convenient than using a full sized blender or food processor.
